  • Stimulates dopamine receptors in the brain
Use:
  • Treatment of Parkinson's disease
  • Rescue therapy for 'off' episodes in Parkinson's disease patients on levodopa
Side Effects:
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Hypotension
  • Dizziness
  • Somnolence
  • Hallucinations
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to apomorphine
  • History of hallucinations or psychotic disorders
  • Severe hepatic or renal impairment
  • Concomitant use of 5-HT3 antagonists or other antiemetics
