Mechanism of Action:Inhibits the protease enzyme, preventing the cleavage of viral polyproteins and the formation of mature infectious viral particles
Use:
  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients
  • Used in combination with other antiretroviral agents
Side Effects:
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Rash
  • Abdominal pain
  • Elevated liver enzymes
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to darunavir or any component of the formulation
  • Co-administration with drugs that are highly dependent on CYP3A for clearance and for which elevated plasma concentrations are associated with serious and/or life-threatening events
  • Severe hepatic impairment
