Mechanism of Action:
  • Blocks sodium channels in cardiac cells, slowing conduction and prolonging refractoriness
  • Also has beta-blocking properties
Use:
  • Treatment and prevention of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias
Side Effects:
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Visual disturbances
  • Arrhythmias
  • Heart failure exacerbation
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to flecainide
  • Severe heart failure
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • 2nd or 3rd degree AV block
  • Sick sinus syndrome
  • Brugada syndrome
