Mechanism of Action:
  • Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit
  • Prevents the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA to the acceptor site on the mRNA-ribosome complex
Use:
  • Treatment of acne vulgaris
  • Treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria
Side Effects:
  • Nausea

Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
