Mechanism of Action:Binds to ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, causing leakage of intracellular contents and subsequent cell death
Use:
  • Treatment of oral and gastrointestinal candidiasis
  • Topical treatment of cutaneous and mucocutaneous candidiasis
Side Effects:
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach upset
  • Skin irritation (with topical use)
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to nystatin or any component of the formulation
