  • Also blocks histamine and alpha-adrenergic receptors
Use:
  • Treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
  • Management of agitation and aggression in dementia
Side Effects:
  • Weight gain
  • Sedation
  • Orthostatic hypotension
  • Hyperglycemia
  • Extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS)
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to olanzapine
  • Severe CNS depression
  • Narrow-angle glaucoma
