Drug Class:Cholinesterase reactivator
Mechanism of Action:
  • Binds to and reactivates acetylcholinesterase inhibited by organophosphate pesticides or nerve agents
  • Restores normal neuromuscular function
Use:
  • Antidote for organophosphate pesticide or nerve agent poisoning
  • Reverses muscle weakness, respiratory depression, and other symptoms of cholinesterase inhibition
Side Effects:
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Tachycardia
  • Hypertension
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to pralidoxime
  • Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
