Mechanism of Action:
  • Selective agonist of beta2-adrenergic receptors in the lungs
  • Relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, resulting in bronchodilation
Use:
  • Maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Not for acute asthma attacks or bronchospasm

  • Tremors
  • Headache
  • Palpitations
  • Nervousness
  • Insomnia
  • Hypokalemia
  • Hyperglycemia
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to salmeterol or lactose
  • Not for use as monotherapy in asthma
  • Not for use in acute bronchospasm
