Drug Name:Sugammadex
Drug Class:Selective relaxant binding agent
Mechanism of Action:
  • Binds to and inactivates aminosteroid neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) such as rocuronium and vecuronium
  • Reverses the effects of NMBAs by forming a complex with them, which is then excreted by the kidneys
Use:
  • Reversal of neuromuscular blockade induced by rocuronium or vecuronium during surgery
  • Rapid reversal of NMBAs in emergency situations
Side Effects:
  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Hypotension
Contraindications:
  • Known hypersensitivity to sugammadex or any of its components
