Drug Name:Tadalafil
Drug Class:Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor
Mechanism of Action:
  • Inhibits the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) by PDE5, leading to increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum of the penis
  • Relaxes smooth muscle and increases blood flow to the penis, resulting in improved erectile function
Use:
  • Treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH)
Side Effects:
  • Headache

Contraindications:
  • Concomitant use with nitrates or nitric oxide donors
