Mechanism of Action:
  • Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit
  • Broad-spectrum activity against gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria
Use:
  • Treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections
  • Treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections
  • Treatment of community-acquired pneumonia
Side Effects:
  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Increased liver enzymes
  • Photosensitivity
Contraindications:
  • Hypersensitivity to tigecycline or any component of the formulation
  • Use in children under 8 years of age
